Hidden Denim Review: Are the High Rise Sloan Jeans Worth $79?

The cheetah trend is back, and I, for one, couldn’t be happier. Truly, I believe animal print is basically a neutral.

Naturally, I have been on the HUNT for the best cheetah-print denim a girl could find. (No pun intended).

There was another reason I needed new jeans, though. I've gained a bit of weight over the past two years, and almost nothing in my closet fits the way it used to. Shopping for denim had become less “cute little wardrobe refresh” and more “how many dressing rooms can personally offend me in one afternoon?”

So when I finally found a pair of jeans that not only fit, but were so comfortable they practically felt like loungewear, I bought them on the spot.

Well, transparently, I tried them on first. Enter Hidden Denim.

I bought the Sloan Straight Leg in Brown Cheetah, size 29, and I've now owned them for just under a year. This isn't a first-impression review. I've worn these jeans roughly once a week, washed them repeatedly, styled them a dozen different ways, and they have become the pair I reach for more than anything else in my closet.

Hidden makes a ton of great cuts and washes, plus the occasional fun pattern, but what surprised me most about this pair wasn't actually the cheetah print.

It was how damn comfortable they are. (I even wore them for a branding session).

You can find these jeans here.

FIT & COMFORT

These have enough room through the waist, hips, and thighs that I never feel squeezed into them, but enough structure that they still feel like actual denim rather than jeggings. There's enough stretch to move comfortably, the waistband doesn't dig when I sit, and, importantly, they don't stretch out over the course of the day. That's a difficult combination to find. I want jeans that move with my body without slowly becoming two sizes larger by dinner. These manage both.

ARE THEY WORTH $79?

I paid $79 for these jeans, which is enough money that I expect them to do more than look cute for a season.

If I've worn them roughly once a week for almost a year, I've probably worn them somewhere around 40–50 times. That puts my current cost per wear at approximately $1.58–$1.98, and they're nowhere near the end of their life.

That's the kind of math I'm interested in at Edit & Bloom. A $30 pair of jeans isn't a bargain if I wear them three times. A $79 pair I reach for every week, wash repeatedly, and still love a year later? That's value.

THE POCKETS

The pockets are deep and super functional. Not only are you able to have your phone in your back pocket, I also hid some small scissors in my pocket while helping clean out the garage. You can easily put your keys in your pocket if you are “just running inside for a second.”

AFTER ALMOST A YEAR

After almost a year, I haven't noticed fading in the cheetah print, thinning through the thighs, stretched-out knees, fraying at the hem, or obvious wear around the pockets or waistband. The fabric has maintained its shape, and they still fit the way I remember them fitting when I bought them.

If you handed them to me today without telling me how old they were, I genuinely don't think I would guess they'd been worn weekly for almost a year.

HOW I STYLE THEM

Cheetah is a neutral.

WHAT I DON'T LOVE

I genuinely don't have an aesthetic or fit complaint to report after almost a year of owning them.

The caveat I do have is about fabric composition. Part of what makes these jeans so comfortable is their stretch, which comes in part from elastane. If you're specifically looking for rigid, 100% cotton denim or prioritizing natural fibers, these aren't going to meet that requirement.

Personally, I'm grateful for the stretch because it's a major reason I wear them so often. But I think it's worth knowing what you're buying rather than pretending every product is perfect for every shopper.

WARDROBE STATUS: EARNED

Almost a year later, these aren't just my favorite cheetah-print jeans. They're my favorite jeans, period.

And if I'm going to build a smaller wardrobe filled only with clothes I actually want to wear, that's exactly the standard every piece has to meet.

These earn the hanger.
